Bad news for influencers, and anyone who earns a living from social media.

According to the IRB, any income earned from paid reviews, brand endorsements or businesses conducted via social media is taxable.

This, if they earn more than RM 5000 a month.

The good news, is that you can also claim claim for business expenses and tax refunds, if they're applicable.

The IRB adds that in cases involving minors,  parents or their legal guardians will have to declare the incomes on their behalf.
