Online scammers face the music
Dec 13, 2019
680 suspected online scammers will be charged in court today and Monday.
The China nationals were nabbed in Cyberjaya last month in a massive enforcement operation.
All of them will be deported once the charges are done, while their names will be blacklisted to prevent them from entering Malaysia again.
The Immigration Department says the China Embassy here has been cooperative, and it believes the suspected scammers will also be punished in their own country.
Meanwhile, another 65 suspected China online scammers were arrested in Ipoh two days ago.
It means 940 such suspects have been arrested in Malaysia over the past two months alone.

We're still taking Goldman Sachs to court
The government will file criminal charges against Goldman Sachs next year, despite the investment bank indicating that it intends on reaching a settlement over the 1MDB case.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said he is unaware of the intended settlement, but confirmed the case will be heard in court by the middle of next year.
The government is trying to claim 7.5 billion dollars in compensation from the bank in connection to the 1MDB scandal.
