Still no end to water woes
Dec 23, 2019
Air Selangor's hopes of restoring water supply to the Klang Valley this morning have been dashed, as the odour pollution levels are fluctuating.
The water company had hoped levels would fall to zero this morning, but the number is fluctuating between 1 and 2 at the moment.
Hundreds and thousands of residents in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang are suffering from water cuts just two days from Christmas.
All this because irresponsible parties dumped toxic waste down a manhole in Cheras, polluting the Semenyih River.
Air Selangor is providing 24-hours emergency water to all affected areas, while public taps and supplies at local service centres are also available.
Most are complying with smoking ban
The number of people in Malaysia not complying with the smoking ban is minimal.
Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye says the one-year education period seems to have had a significant impact.
Enforcement will start next year, with those caught smoking in prohibited areas fined up to RM10,000 or 2 years jail, while eateries that allow customers to light up will be fined up to RM2,500.

However, Dr Lee assured restaurant operators don't have to worry about indiscriminate fines.
They will only receive a summons if they don't display the no smoking signage, still provide ashtrays in the restaurant, or encourage smokers to light up.
EPF says sorry to cancer patient
EPF has apologised after a bedridden cancer patient was forced to show up at its Johor Bahru office to withdraw her funds for her medical treatment.
The 56-year-old patient was reportedly told to come in person for a thumbprint scan, despite notifying the officer that she was bedridden.
