Really? You were unaware of the smoking ban?
Jan 02, 2020
Some smokers claim they are unaware of the smoking ban in Malaysia, despite a full year of awareness campaigns in 2019.
Enforcement started yesterday, with hundreds of compounds issued to errant smokers nationwide.
Premises that did not display no-smoking signs and allowed customers to smoke were also penalised.
The Deputy Health Minister said 5,000 personnel will monitor all no-smoking areas and ramp up nighttime enforcement operations, including in rural areas.

It took 100 people eight hours to clean up after New Year's Eve revellers in the heart of KL.
Alam Flora says 9 tonnes of garbage was collected from Dataran Merdeka, KLCC and Bukit Bintang.
Social media photos showed all sorts of rubbish thrown on the floor, while food vendors also reportedly skipped the overflowing rubbish bins.
However, no formal complaints have been lodged with DBKL on the littering.
