Malaysia's total COVID-19 deaths at 50

Apr 02, 2020

Malaysia now has a total of 50 COVID-19 deaths, after confirming 5 more fatalities today.

The Health Ministry adds that 208 new infections were detected, bringing our tally to 3,116.

So far, 105 are in ICU with 54 requiring breathing assistance.

122 more patients have been discharged from hospital, meaning a total of 767 people have fully recovered.

More Malaysians following MCO rules

More Malaysians are abiding by the Movement Control Order, or MCO.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says this, as the number of arrests for violating MCO rules has gone down by about 3 percent.

He says some 560 were arrested yesterday - 20 less than the previous day.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Ismail has reminded that starting tomorrow, all Malaysians returning from overseas will have to undergo 14 days of mandatory quarantine.

COVID-19 red zones now in 16 areas

The country’s number of COVID-19 red zones has risen to 16, after Batu Pahat, Johor reported 44 infection cases.

The Health Ministry says Selangor is Malaysia’s top COVID-19 hotspot, followed by KL, and now Johor.

Meanwhile, only 31 districts in six states remain green zones, or free of the coronavirus.
