Malaysia's COVID-19 death toll rises to 84

The number of COVID-19 patients released from hospital today has again exceeded the number of new infections. 

119 were discharged compared to 110 new cases.

This brings Malaysia’s tally of infection cases to 5,182, but less than half of them are considered active cases. 

Another death was reported today, raising our death toll to 84. 

Also, Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says the ministry has come up with guidelines, to help protect residents at elderly care homes from the threat of COVID-19.

The guidelines are especially aimed at facilities that house a lot of elderly residents.

Ramadan Bazaar related businesses in KL not to operate

Any businesses related to Ramadhan Bazaars will not be allowed to operate in KL during the coming fasting month.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says this includes drive-through and pick up services.

Those allowed to work during MCO require COVID-19 testing

Employees in sectors that will be allowed to operate during the 3rd phase of the MCO MUST be checked for COVID-19.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali says screenings will be conducted at more than 3,000 SOCSO panel clinics.

Meanwhile for the construction sector, employers must also ensure that only 50 percent of their workers are allowed to work at their premises.

These are among the strict criteria that are in place, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
