Malaysia records highest daily number of recovered COVID-19 patients

Jun 09, 2020

Malaysia has hit a milestone in its fight against COVID-19.

This is after 281 patients were discharged from hospital today, the highest number since the start of the Movement Control Order.

Meanwhile, only seven new infections were reported, comprising six imported cases and one foreign national.

Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has thanked everybody for doing their part.

Meanwhile the death toll remains unchanged at 117.

RMCO to see more restrictions being eased

Several more restrictions will be eased, when the Recovery MCO comes into effect tomorrow.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob adds, this includes allowing longer operating hours for restaurants and eateries.

He said, "Mesyuarat Khas telah bersetuju untuk membenarkan restoran, gerai dan semua perniagaan menjual makanan, outlet menjual makanan, untuk beroperasi sehingga jam 12 tengah malam."

Convenience shops' opening hours will also be extended until midnight.

Also, zoos nationwide can reopen starting tomorrow, subject to the relevant SOPs.

School reopenings may be announced tomorrow

Students may find out tomorrow, when their schools will reopen.

The Education Ministry says the matter will be decided in a meeting between its minister and the National Security Council today.

For now, schools will only reopen for secondary students, starting with those sitting for key national exams.

Nearly 400 thousand students will sit for exams like the SPM and STPM this year.
