COVID-19 death toll reaches 700 mark

The COVID-19 death toll has risen to 700, after 11 more patients succumbed to the virus.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry detected 3,585 new COVID-19 cases today.
Selangor had the highest number of infections, followed by KL, and Johor.

Emergency Management Committee to turn National Service Camps into temporary detention centres
The government has set up a Technical Management Committee to oversee the enforcement of ordinances during the state of emergency.
The Chief Secretary to the Government says the committee has discussed fine-tuning details for insurance companies to cover the cost of COVID-19 treatment at private hospitals.
It has also discussed identifying government facilities nationwide to be used as coronavirus testing centres.
Meanwhile, National Service training centres and other such facilities will be converted into temporary detention centres to ensure physical distancing among prisoners and detainees.

SOPs for Thaipusam KL Chariot Procession
The government has announced further details on SOPs for the Thaipusam chariot procession in KL tomorrow morning.
The National Unity Ministry says this includes banning devotees from participating in the journey, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
It adds that the procession to and from Batu Caves will not be allowed to make any stops.
