The status of areas under RMCO and CMCO not permanent

Jan 15, 2021

The status of areas placed under the Recovery and Conditional MCO will change if they experience a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Putrajaya says the current status are not set in stone and could change to MCO should the need arise.

Currently, 6 states - Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan are placed under the CMCO, with Perlis and Sarawak under the RMCO for 2 weeks until January 26th.

Malaysians, who are not active frontliners, below the age of 60 and in relatively good health can expect to receive their doses of Covid-19 vaccinations only by the third-quarter of this year or later.

The government says this is because the first batch of vaccines to arrive will be prioritised to immunise those within vulnerable groups.

Self-service or coin laundromats, which were previously barred from operating under the MCO, can now operate under one strict condition.

They must ensure they have staff at their outlets to monitor for SOP compliance and they will be allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm.
