Malaysia reaches new record of COVID-19 deaths

The country reported its highest number of daily COVID-19 deaths yesterday, with 18 fatalities, raising the death toll to 660.

The Health Director General said 17 of them were Malaysians and one was a foreigner.

This, as Malaysia recorded another 3,631 COVID-19 cases, and 12 new clusters nationwide.

COVID-19 positive and quarantined students allowed to defer major exams

Major examinations will go ahead as planned next month, amid the country’s COVID-19 situation.

However, the Education Ministry says students infected by the coronavirus, or undergoing quarantine will sit for the exams during a separate session.

It adds that it will provide a different set of exam papers to prevent leaked questions.

COVID-19 vaccination important for economic recovery

The government's COVID-19 vaccination program is integral to helping the economy recover from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry says once herd immunity is achieved, the country can control COVID-19 transmissions better.

Malaysia is expected to receive its first supply of COVID-19 vaccines at the end of next month.
