7,000 vaccinators to get vaccinated first

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is set to arrive on Malaysian shores one week earlier before the National COVID-19 Vaccination program rolls out at the end of the month.
The Health Ministry says it's to immunize 7,000 individuals who are tasked to administer the doses during the program.
Meanwhile, it has identified 55 storage locations nationwide to keep the vaccines.
It says it will work with TNB to ensure undisrupted electricity supply to power the vaccine’s ultra-low temperature freezers.

Malaysia detects second case of B117 COVID-19 variant
The Health Ministry has detected the country's second case of the B117 COVID-19 strain.
Its Director General says the patient is a Malaysian who recently returned from the United Arab Emirates.
A recent report by the World Health Organisation found that the mutated strain could lower the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines.

4,756 medical personnel contracted COVID-19 since January last year
Almost 5,000 health workers have been infected by the coronavirus so far.
The Health Director General says around 60% of them are women.
He adds that almost half of the total infections contracted the virus from the community and not while on duty.
