Lewandowski Approaches UCL Milestone

Robert Lewandowski netted twice, as Barcelona thrashed Red Star Belgrade 5-2 in the Champions League this morning.

The Polish striker is now just one goal away from becoming only the third player after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, to reach a century of goals in the tournament.

This morning’s result was also Barca’s third straight win of the current campaign.

In other selected results…Arsenal’s unbeaten run came to an end after the Gunners fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Inter Milan.

Aston Villa fell victim to a contentious penalty in their 1-0 loss to Brugge.

Bayern Munich ended a two-match losing streak by beating Benfica 1-0.

While Atletico Madrid scored an injury-time winner to beat PSG 2-1.

Closer to home…Selangor interim coach Abdi Hassan says his side needs to be prepared for any eventuality, when they take on Jeonbuk in tonight’s Asian Champions League 2 clash.

This is because the South Korean side has a tendency to field different lineups…as they have a big squad.

In tennis…Zheng Qinwen has made the semis at the WTA Finals after a comfortable victory over Jasmine Paolini.

The Olympic gold medalist is only the second Chinese player to reach the semifinals of the tournament after Li Na back in 2013.
