Feb 12, 2024

ivory cost defend afcon crown

Ivory Coast came back from a goal down to beat Nigeria 2-1 in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Sebastien Haller sealed the win for the host nation, after he scored in the 81st minute.

This comes just over a year after the striker's recovery from testicular cancer.

This is Ivory Coast's 3rd Afcon title, after winning it in 1992 and 2015.

They are also the first hosts to lift the trophy since Egypt in 2006.

West Ham legend Tony Cottee is refusing to blame boss David Moyes for their humiliating 6-0 home loss to Arsenal.

He says instead it was the board's fault for not properly investing in the squad.

Cottee, who also played for Selangor in the 1990s, also criticised the board over the uncertainty surrounding Moyes’ future, as the manager only has 5 months left in his contract.

The Hammers are now winless in 5 matches, with their last victory being their 2-nil win over the Gunners back in December.

Brazil will NOT defend its Olympic football gold medal after missing out on a place at this year's Games in Paris.

This is after they were beaten 1-nil by Argentina in their final qualifying match.

Argentina are through to the Games alongside Paraguay.
