Van Dijk: Ref Lost Control Of Chaotic Merseyside Derby

Feb 13, 2025

van dijk: ref lost control of chaotic merseyside derby

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk claims the referee lost control of this morning's 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.

The match ended in a brawl triggered by an Everton player celebrating their late equaliser in front of visiting fans.

It resulted in red cards for Everton's Abdoulaye Doucouré and Liverpool's Curtis Jones, as well as the Liverpool manager and assistant.

However, van Dijk urged his teammates to move on and focus on their next game, against Wolves.

Meanwhile, Mo Salah scored once and assisted in Alexis Mac Allister's goal to set a new Premier League record for most goal contributions in away matches.

He now has registered 23 away goals and assists this season, beating the previous record by Man United's Andy Cole in the 1993-94 season.

Elsewhere, Malaysia have made an early exit at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship in China.

This is after we lost 3-2 to Indonesia in our final Group B tie, following yesterday's defeat to Hong Kong.

Malaysia finished at the bottom of the group, with Indonesia and Hong Kong moving to the quarterfinals.
