Australia have qualified for this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

The Socceroos booked their place after beating Peru 5-4 on penalties in their inter-continental playoff.

This will be Australia’s fifth World Cup in a row, having qualified for every edition since 2006.

They will now join France, Denmark and Tunisia in Group D.

France are still without a win in the Nations League, after falling to a 1-nil defeat to Croatia this morning.

The result also ends a run of 23 matches where the French have scored at least one goal.

They last time they failed to find the back of the net was in November 2020.

The defeat to Croatia leaves France bottom of their group, with no hope of retaining their title.

Daniil Medvedev has replaced Novak Djokovic at the top of the world tennis rankings, with the Serbian dropping to third place.

This is the first time in nearly 19 years that none of Djokovic, Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer or Andy Murray have appeared in the top two ranking spots.
