Pep: Nothing Lasts Forever

Feb 20, 2025

pep: nothing lasts forever

Man City boss Pep Guardiola says it's time to admit that the club's era of dominance is over.

This, after they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League knockout playoffs this morning, for a 6-3 aggregate defeat.

Guardiola says the only thing they can do is now is to focus on the remainder of the EPL campaign, and hope they do well enough to qualify for next season's Champions League.

City are currently in 4th place in the Premier League table, but they face stiff competition from clubs including Chelsea, Newcastle and Bournemouth.

--

Speaking of Bournemouth, latest reports say that their manager Andoni Iraola is now being targeted by Real Madrid as a possible replacement for Carlo Ancelotti.

He is also being linked with Tottenham, if Ange Postecoglu leaves.

Iraola is said to be in demand, after taking Bournemouth up to 5th place in the EPL table so far this season.

--

Liverpool boss Arne Slot admits he's not happy after their 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

The result means that the EPL leaders missed out on a chance to go 10 points clear of second-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

It was also the second time in three games that Liverpool have dropped points, following their earlier draw with Everton.
