Spurs Mark European Return

Sep 26, 2024

spurs mark european return

Tottenham will mark their return to European campaign when they host Azerbaijani side Qarabag in the Europa League tomorrow.

It's their first continental game, after a year's absence.

Ot's believed that boss Ange Postecoglu could rest Son Heung-min and other key players, to keep them fresh ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash against Man United.

Spurs will also have to make do without Richarlison and Wilson Odobert due to injury.

--

France boss Didier Deschamps has paid tribute to Raphael Varane, who announced his retirement yesterday.

Deschamps hailed Varane's contributions in France's 2018 and 2022 World Cup campaigns and called him an influential leader both on and off the pitch.

He adds that the door is always open for Varane to take on any role in the national team.

Varane called time on his career after suffering a knee injury while playing for Italian club Como.

--

Liverpool are looking at possible replacements, if Mo Salah decides to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Spanish reports say if this happens, they will make a move for Real Madrid's 23-year-old winger Rodrygo.

--

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says goalkeeper David Raya is still a doubt for their Premier League clash against Leicester this weekend.

Raya was forced to miss this morning's EFL Cup third-round win over Bolton due to a muscle injury.
