England hope to host 2030 World Cup

England believe they are in pole position to host the 2030 World Cup, as they plan for the bidding process.

UEFA wants to name a single European candidate, to ensure the strongest possible chance against a joint 2030 bid by Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.

However, English FA bosses have decided to run a low-key campaign, after arrogance was blamed for their failed bids to host the tournament in both 2006 and 2018.

There's also said to be an understanding that it's England's turn, having only hosted the World Cup back in 1966, which was also the only time they won the tournament.
