F1 still hopeful of 15-race season, following Azerbaijan GP postponement

Mar 24, 2020

F1 is hoping to hold at least 15 grands prix this year, starting sometime in the summer.

With the Azerbaijan GP postponed, Chairman Chase Carey admits there IS potential for further postponements to the eight rounds already called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, but he’s confident the season will eventually begin, and a substantial calendar will be put in place.

Nevertheless, Carey has assured that F1 WILL be ready to race when the situation improves, although it’s unclear when that will be.

As it stands, the Canadian GP on June 14th is now due to be the season opener, but this too is expected to be called off, while the following French GP also appears to be in jeopardy.

Champions League, Europa League finals postponed till further notice

UEFA has postponed the Champions League and Europa League finals, with no new dates arranged.

The European showpiece club finals were both scheduled to be held in May, but have become the latest in a line of sporting events to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

It's unclear how UEFA plans to go from here, but it could authorise one-legged knockout matches, which means the quarterfinals and semifinals could be played over a single game.

Mikel Arteta is doing well after recovering from coronavirus

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he has now fully recovered from the coronavirus.

The 37-year-old, who became the first Premier League manager to test positive for the virus on March 12th, self-isolated after coming into contact with the owner of Greek side Olympiakos, who earlier tested positive, during Arsenal's recent Europa League clash.

Gunners players were due to report for training today, after completing 14 days' isolation following Arteta's diagnosis, but their return has been postponed.
