Federer beats Britain's latest tennis sensation
Jun 30, 2016
Roger Federer has beaten Marcus Willis in the 2nd round at Wimbledon, ending the debutant's fairytale-run in his first Grand Slam tennis tournament.
However, Federer had to play 2nd fiddle to Britain's latest tennis sensation, as the crowd were in full support for the 772nd ranked player.
Willis shot to fame when he came through 6 matches to reach the main draw, and beat his Lithuanian opponent in the first round to set up a meeting with Federer.
Despite the defeat, Willis will earn 50 thousand pounds, a significant raise from the 220 pounds he had in total prize money before this.
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic ousted Adrian for a record 30th consecutive grand slam match win, and joined Federer in the 3rd round.
