Nicol David weighs in on GOAT award nomination

Jan 19, 2021

Datuk Nicol David says she's honoured to be among those in contention to be named the International World Games Association's Greatest Athlete Of All Time.

The Msian squash legend says she doesn't have high hopes of winning the award, due to stiff competition from other athletes.

"The closest contention is from Batyr Altyev, a sumo wrestler from Russia but no doubt the other athletes out there from racquetball from Mexico, cycling from Colombia. So far with all the support I've been getting very good votes, and thank you very much for the support."

Nicol currently leads the online poll, with close to 200 thousand votes.

Spurs, Hammers vie for Lingard

Tottenham and West Ham are among several clubs who are reportedly keen on signing Man United's Jesse Lingard.

The midfielder's future is in doubt as he has only started twice for United this season, both in cup competitions.

However, it's believed that boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will resist efforts to sell Lingard this month.

He wants to keep Lingard, to provide cover throughout what is expected to be a very busy second half of the season.
