Osaka Triumphs In Melbourne

Naomi Osaka has won the Australian Open, with a dramatic three-sets win over Petra Kvitova in yesterday's women's final. 

The Japanese is now the new world number one - becoming the first Asian-born player to top the world rankings, and at 21, the youngest player since 2010 to do so.

The victory in Melbourne adds on to Osaka's maiden win a the US Open late last year, making her the first player since 2001 to immediately follow up her first Grand Slam win with another triumph.

City Remain On Course For Clean Sweep

Manchester City have kept their hopes of a quadruple alive, after making the fifth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 5-0 thrashing of Burnley.

City are also in contention for the Premier League and Champions League titles, and have made the final of the League Cup.

Elsewhere in the FA Cup, second-tier Milwall scored an injury-time winner, to pull off a shock 3-2 victory over Everton. 

West Ham were another Premiership club to crash out, falling to a 4-2 defeat to Wimbledon.  

Malaysian Challenge Ends At The Indonesian Masters

Its the end of the road for Malaysia at the Indonesian Badminton Masters, after the country's last remaining representatives Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying lost in the semis of the mixed-doubles event.

The sixth seeded pair lost in straight sets to their archrivals Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir, who were playing in front of their home supporters.
