What's Going On With The Messi Transfer Saga?

Aug 27, 2020

The latest news and rumours about the Messi saga

Man City are reportedly drawing up a 3-year contract for Lionel Messi.

City are regarded as the favourites to sign the Barcelona star, who recently submitted a transfer request following a trophyless season.

It's believed that the contract includes a clause that will allow Messi to eventually join City's sister club, New York City FC

He will then be offered an ambassadorial role when he chooses to retire.

Meanhwile, Barcelona legend Rivaldo reckons that Man City will be the best option for Lionel Messi, IF he leaves the Camp Nou.

Rivaldo says City boss Pep Guardiola knows Messi well from his time at Barca, and is confident that Guardiola can get the best out of the Argentine.

Brazil legend Ronaldo has urged Barcelona to do whatever it takes to hold on to Lionel Messi.

He says Messi is a very important part of club, and he wants the player and Barca to find a way to work together in the future.

Messi recently submitted a transfer request, following a trophyless campaign last season.

A group of Barcelona fans have filed a motion of no confidence against club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, following Lionel Messi's transfer request.

They blame Bartomeu for the club's failures last season, and hope that forcing him to leave will persuade Messi to stay.

According to ESPN, the supporters need the backing of 15 percent of the club's members to push for an official vote.

Bartomeu will be forced out if two-thirds of members vote in favour of his removal.
