Olympic Heartbreak For Pearly/Thinaah

Aug 04, 2024

olympic heartbreak for pearly/thinaah

Pearly Tan/M. Thinnah say they are heartbroken, after they missed out on a Paris Olympics medal.

Despite their best efforts, the badminton women’s doubles pair were beaten in straight sets by their Japanese opponents in the playoff for bronze.

Despite this, Pearly and Thinaah still made history, as they are they are our first Malaysian women’s doubles duo to ever advance to an Olympic semi final.

They also did it in their maiden appearance at the Games.

Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik will be gunning to win Malaysia’s first Paris Olympic medal tonight!

The badminton men’s doubles duo face Denmark’s Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the playoff for bronze at 9pm.

Aaron and Wooi Yik, the defending bronze medalists, have a superior head-to-head record.

However, the Danes won their most recent match.

Meanwhile Lee Zii Jia will take on Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the men’s singles semifinals from around 4.50pm

He expects a tough match against reigning world champion Kunlavut, who defeated the top seed in the quarters.

Also, Liverpool have beaten Man United 3-0 in their pre-season friendly.

Meanwhile Man City beat Chelsea 4-2 and Barcelona had a 2-1 win over Real Madrid.
