Rival premier league clubs are reportedly demanding that Man City face severe punishment, if they are found guilty of breaching financial rules.
This, after the Citizens were charged by the Premier League with allegedly breaking over 100 financial fair play laws between 2008 and 2019.
If found guilty, the defending league champions face a possible points deduction, being stripped of their previous titles, or even expulsion from the league.
City have since responded publicly saying the accusations have taken them by surprise, and claim to have sufficient evidence to prove their innocence.
Manager Pep Guardiola had previously also said that he would leave City, if it turns out the owners had lied about the club’s finances.

Man United manager Erik Ten Hag is reportedly planning to sell Anthony Martial, Harry Maguire and Alex Telles in the summer.
The Dutch boss is also on the lookout for a new striker, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane, and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen on his radar.
-
In a related development, sources say Spurs will not sell Kane to a league rival.
The captain’s contract is set to expire next year, with no sign of an extension on the cards.

Karim Benzema has been left out of the Real Madrid squad for their Club World Cup semifinal, with the striker yet to recover from the leg injury he sustained earlier this month.
