Slot Gives Palace Fans Benefit of the Doubt

Aug 11, 2025

slot gives palace fans benefit of the doubt

Liverpool boss Arne Slot does NOT believe that Crystal Palace fans had any ill intentions, when they disrupted the tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother before last night's Community Shield.

Liverpool and Palace players were holding a minute's silence for the duo, who were killed in a car accident.

However, it was cut short due to shouts and boos from a section of Palace supporters.

Slot says instead of any malice, he believes the fans were unaware of what was going on.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk is looking at the positives after the Community Shield result.

The club captain says the result highlighted the areas the EPL champions need to improve before the current transfer window closes.

He also urged his teammates to remain focused and prepare for their season-opener against Bournemouth on Saturday morning.

--

Nottingham Forest are said to be keen on signing Liverpool's Kostas Tsimikas.

The Greek left-back's future is uncertain, after he was dropped for the Community Shield.

--

According to reports, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson would prefer to join Newcastle, if he is forced to leave the Club World Cup winners this summer.

Meanwhile, Jackson may have to wait to join Newcastle, as the Magpies want to sort out Alexander Isak's future before deciding on his replacement.
