Added Reward For New World Champs

Sep 11, 2025

added reward for new world champs

Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei will receive 40 thousand ringgit each under the National Sports Incentive Scheme for winning the mixed doubles world title.

The Youth and Sports Minister says this is actually higher than the standard rate under the scheme, with the one-off increase reflecting the unprecedented nature of their victory.

Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah, who finished as women’s doubles runners-up at the World Championships, will also receive 20 thousand ringgit each.

Meanwhile, theMinistry also announced that the Malaysian Wushu Team will receive 480 thousand ringgit…for bagging five gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the recent World Championships.

Still on our athletes…Malaysia has defeated Singapore 5-1 in their fifth-to-eighth classification tie at the Women’s Hockey Asia Cup.

The national team will next face Thailand, before wrapping up their classification round matches against Taiwan.

England players have been told to fight for their place on the team ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Manager Thomas Tuchel warns that he is not afraid to drop big names, if it leads to better balance within the squad.

He said this after England’s 5-nil qualifying victory over Serbia, which they won without the injured Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden.

The Three Lions are now on the verge of automatic qualification for the World Cup…needing just five points from their final three matches to reach next year’s tournament.

Free agent Christian Eriksen has signed with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

The Danish midfielder has been without a club since leaving Man United when his contract expired at the end of last season.
