Selangor runner Nur Afrina Batrisya has claimed the sprint double at the 2024 SUKMA Games.  

She won the gold medal in the women’s 200m event, with a new Games record time of 23.89 seconds.  

This comes a day after her record-breaking run in the 100m.  

Meanwhile men's 100m champion, Danish Iftikhar had to settle for silver in his 200m, after the Johorean finished behind Penang Muhammad Sayyid Amin.

Elsewhere, Selangor defeated the Federal Territories to win gold in the badminton mixed team event. 

Penang defeated hosts Sarawak to take the bronze medal.

Currently, Sarawak remain at the top of the overall standings with 42 gold medals. 

The Federal Territories remain in second place with 30 gold, while Terengganu, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan round up the top five.

Lee Zii Jia’s campaign at the Japan badminton Open has ended, after he suffered a straight sets defeat in the first round.  

Meanwhile Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin defeated their opponents in the men’s doubles.

Raheem Sterling wants to meet with Chelsea’s board, to determine whether he has a long-term future at the club.  

This, amid increased speculation about his place in the team, after he was left out of the squad for their EPL season-opener against Man City. 

Meanwhile, some reports have linked Sterling with a possible move to Italian giants Juventus.
