Man City take another step towards EPL title

Man City have extended their lead at the top of the EPL table, thanks to a 2-1 win over Aston Villa this morning.

Villa had gone ahead after only 20 seconds…but City regained their composure to respond through goals from Phil Foden and Rodri before the break.

City are now 11 points clear of second-placed Man United and need eight points from their final five matches to wrap up the Premiership title.

Meanwhile, Tottenham also fought back from a goal down to beat Southampton 2-1.

Son Heung Min netted the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to give Ryan Mason his first victory as Spurs’ interim manager.

Tottenham are now up to sixth – two points outside the top four.

Real Madrid have gone top of La Liga on goal difference, after their 3-0 win over Cadiz.

Real, however, have played one game more than second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Over in Italy…Inter Milan are inching closer to their first Serie A title since 2010….after their 1-1 draw with Speziagave them a 10-point lead over neighbours AC Milan.

Stephanie Frappart will become the first female match official to be involved in the European Championships, after she was confirmed on the list of referees for this summer’s Euro 2020.

The Frenchwoman has been making a name for herself in the men’s game over the past two years…becoming the first woman to officiate in the Champions League, French League and World Cup qualifiers.

Tokyo Olympics organisers will only make a decision in June, about how many local fans will be allowed to attend the events, amid a spike in Covid-19 infections there.

Organisers have already barred overseas spectators from attending the Games.
