Atletico have been crowned La Liga champions

Atletico Madrid have been crowned La Liga champions for the first time in seven years.

Their 2-1 win over Valladolid helped them finish the season two points ahead of Real Madrid…who defeated Villareal 2-1.

Meanwhile, Barcelona edged past Eibar 1-0 in their final game, to secure a third-placed finish.

Robert Lewandowski has broken Gerd Muller’s 49-year old record for the most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.

He got on the scoresheet in Bayern Munich’s 5-2 win over Augsburg, to take his league tally for the season to 41.

The Badminton World Federation has voted against changing the sport’s scoring system to a best-of-five 11-point format.

The proposal fell just short of the two-thirds majority needed to be passed, during the BWF’s virtual AGM yesterday.

The current best of three 21-point format has been in use since 2006.

Malaysia’s S. Sivasangari has pulled off a surprise win over world number 10 Tesni Evans in the second round of the Egypt Squash Open.

The 22-year-old will next face world number two Nouran Gohar in the third round later today.
