Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffers first EPL defeat at hands of Arsenal

Mar 11, 2019

Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suffered his first Premier League defeat since taking charge, losing 2-nil to Arsenal at the Emirates.

Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted the goals, to help the Gunners leapfrog United into the top four.

Solskjaer told the BBC this is his "lowest" moment since he took charge, although he's still happy with his team's performance.

"You can't say this was a game we deserved to lose, coz we created five at least, big chances that would've worked twice. They scored in the first shot and got a penalty. So the performance was good. Result, disappointing."

The Norwegian has overseen a run of 10 league wins and two draws, since taking over from Jose Mourinho in December.

Elsewhere, Liverpool came from behind to beat Burnley 4-2 at Anfield, leaving the Reds one point behind league leaders Manchester City, with eight matches remaining this season.

Visitors Burnley took a shock sixth-minute lead when Ashley Westwood scored direct from a corner, but braces from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane sealed the win for The Reds.

Meanwhile, Chelsea were held to a 1-all draw by Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were minutes away from a shock defeat, before Eden Hazard salvaged a point with a stoppage-time equaliser.

The draw keeps Chelsea in sixth, three points adrift of Arsenal in fourth, although they have a game in hand over all the sides above them.
