Russian tennis star expected to play at Olympics despite doping ban
Mar 08, 2016
Maria Sharapova is expected to still represent Russia at the upcoming Olympics, despite being suspended from tennis after testing positive for a banned substance.
Russia's tennis chief rubbished the whole matter, saying athletes only take perscriptions given by their physiotherapists and doctors.
Sharapova was taking the substance legally for the past 10 years due to health reasons, before the World Anti Doping Agency banned it this year - something she says she wasn't aware of.
Meanwhile, Nike and Tag Heuer have dropped their sponsorship of the tennis star.
