Tottenham beat Middlesbrough to reach FA Cup fourth round

Jan 15, 2020

Tottenham have posted a 2-1 victory over Championship side Middlesbrough, in their FA Cup third-round replay.

Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela both scored early in the first half, to set up a meeting with Southampton in next weekend's fourth round.

The result also ended a four-game winless run for Spurs in all competitions, and further highlighted how Lo Celso and Lamela could become key men under Jose Mourinho.

Elsewhere, League One Shrewsbury has set up a fourth-round home tie with Liverpool, after edging Bristol City 1-nil.

Newcastle are also through, after thrashing Rochdale 4-1.
