Oct 22, 2020
Virgil van Dijk's injury layoff could last longer than anticipated.
According to a report in The Athletic, the Liverpool defender's knee ligament injury is much worse than initially feared, and he is only expected to return to action next season at the earliest.
Liverpool earlier confirmed that the Dutchman needs to have surgery to fix the problem, but for now it's not clear when it'll happen.
Van Dijk suffered the injury in the recent Merseyside derby against Everton.

Wollf responds to Vettel, Verstappen rumours
Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff insists he was NEVER in talks with Sebastian Vettel, about a possible move to the German team.
Vettel, who is set to leave Ferrari, was strongly linked with Mercedes before announcing a deal with Racing Point for next season.
Wolff also played down reports that Mercedes will make a move for Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.
Earlier reports suggested that Verstappen could trigger an exit clause in his contract, over engine-suppluer Honda's decision to leave F1.
