Local pop producer and singer-songwriter, Cassandra Mary is proud to announce her debut EP -- Stop Shouting, It’s Morning’.
Written, produced and mixed by the 26-year-old artist herself, the EP includes some of Cassandra’s most vulnerable lyrics combined with a variety of production styles ranging from electronic pop, to contemporary pop and acoustic folk.
A regular in the Kuala Lumpur music scene during the early 2010s, Cassandra left for America to further her degree in Economics before returning last year and deciding to pursue her ultimate first love — music.
Following the success of her debut single “Come/Go” (2019), Stop Shouting, It’s Morning consists of six songs and features collaborations with local producer, Khai Zhen, California-based singer-songwriter, Paola Romero, as well as other local musicians such as Herman Ramanado and Shawin Albert of Advents.
Stop Shouting, It’s Morning stemmed from the feeling when you wake up in the morning to that brief moment of bliss and emptiness. Soon after, your thoughts quickly flood in and take up space, creating noise. Each song in the EP represents different internal battles (eg. ‘I Just Wanna See You’ centers on that feeling of longing for someone and only being able to see them through a screen, ‘Sunset In My Apartment’ focuses on accepting what is lost) but ultimately, it’s a journey of finding peace and silence in the noise, confronting the ugly and creating something beautiful out of it.
