Aman RA is a hip-hop artist and producer who has built a following based on his ability to relate with people through his lyrics and music. Popularly known as Budak Flat in Malaysia, he is one of the biggest breakout hip- hop stars of the past few years.

Fiercely independent and articulate, he’s found a way to please both the rap fans and a much wider audience through savvy collaborations.

Born Aman Bin Jamaluddin on April 20, 1987 in Kuala Lumpur, Aman RA’s passion for rap started during his high school years, finding consolation and attracted to the lyrical expression, through the troubled times of his life.

In 2006 he began rapping under the name Kraft, and was part of a group called College Dropouts with high school friend, Caprice. The group competed in Season 3 of ASTRO’s Hitz.TV Blast Off and won second runner-up. Kraft continued competing in a number of rap battles, among them the 2009 Think You Got Skillz? Freestyle Rap Battle, in which he received the MVP Award and walked away as Battle Champion. Later that year Kraft released his first radio hit, “Diamonds”, which won both the Best Hip Hop/Urban Song and Song Of the Year Awards at VIMA 2010 (Voice Independent Music Awards).

After a two year hiatus, Kraft reemerged, rebranded as Aman RA and proceeded to cement his rank as a rapper by winning the MVP (Most Valuable Poet) title on national TV in WORD Rap Battle, together with the grand-prize of RM25,000. He then released the self-produced, soul searching/finding “Pantun 100 Kerat” in February 2014, indicating his serious return to the music industry.

The gritty “BudakFlat” was dropped in April 2016. The story of being a boy growing up in the low income area of Keramat in the heart of the city resonated with an audience that immediately related to the struggle. The song was an instant success and was played nightly in the clubs around Kuala Lumpur; affirming Aman RA’s place as one of hip- hop’s most promising young stars. Currently, BudakFlat has surpassed 2.5 million views on YouTube. Subsequent to the success of BudakFlat, he launched his own merchandise line BudakFlat Co.

As a wordmeister adept in both Malay and English, Aman RA has been featured in a number of song collaborations with local artists of all genres such as Altimet, Ayda Jebat, Dayang Nurfaizah & Hazama, De Fam, Haqiem Rusli and Hunny Madu.

It is his tough street cred, aspirations and steely determination that gives Aman RA relatability. Moving forward, he will continue working on his career and reaching out to hip hop fans around Malaysia and the region.
