Yazmin Aziz is an 18-year old singer and songwriter born in Malaysia to a Filipino Father and Malaysian Mother. Apart from pursuing her career in music, Yazmin is also a full time Communication student studying at HELP university.
Yazmin has attained international achievements including her representation of Malaysia more than five times in international competitions including a silver medal and industry award during the 2017 World Championships of Performing Arts in California, United States of America. Yazmin was also awarded as “Outstanding Asian Teen Performing Artist” during the 21st World Class Excellence 2019 Awards.
The singer and songwriter has released her first English single called “Heart & Soul”, two years after releasing her Malay single, “Lihatlah”, distributed by Warner Music Malaysia.
“Heart & Soul” is a song composed by Yazmin with the intention of allowing listeners to focus on its acoustic lo-fi beats while enjoying meaningful lyrics that expresses gratefulness of having the love of your life - that one person who is your life’s heart and soul.
The inspiration of the song is drawn from Yazmin’s experience with her ex-boyfriend, Michael Pacquiao, son of Senator and Boxing Legend, Manny Pacquiao who also happens to be a musician.
In this song, Yazmin showcases her elusive gift of music. The communicative musicality of the song is inherent in the combined play of melody, harmony and rhythm. The lyrics embody expressiveness and communicates the sincere form of feelings which provides listeners an all-out emotive experience. It delivers all the “feels” for everyone who listens to it first time.
Yazmin shared her thoughts on the song saying:
“I am deeply grateful and honoured that I am able to collaborate with internationally renowned producer and artists such as JayR and Kris Lawrence, through my first English single, “Heart and Soul”. I am blessed to be able to fulfill my dreams as a musician while balancing my education. It may have taken two years since I wrote the song’s lyrics and melody, but it is worth the wait and I hope that “Heart & Soul” will be well received by music lovers in Malaysia and around the world.”
Apart from studying and working on her music, Yazmin has represented Malaysia in various international competitions including the World Championships of Performing Arts, Global Pinoy Singing Idol and most recently in Tokyo, Japan for the World Karaoke Championship. Apart from music, Yazmin was also awarded as “Outstanding Asian Teen Performing Artist” during the 21st World Class Excellence 2019 Awards.
