We're speechless.

When the live-action remake of Aladdin first hit the big screen, we were introduced to a whole new world that we’ve come to love.

Now, that new world could be expanding to a sequel!

Due to the massive success of Guy Ritchie’s adaptation that earned over $1 billion (RM4.2 billion) at the worldwide box office, it comes as no surprise that Disney is now considering making a sequel to Aladdin.

As this current movie was left with a fairly open-ended ending, this allows for more stories to be told in the future and for Disney to actively explore ideas to a sequel.

When asked if the people at Disney were having conversations about a sequel, producer Dan Lin said:

“We have now. We certainly, when we first made the movie, wanted to just make the best movie we could and let audiences tell us if they wanted to see more. And I would say resoundingly, audiences want to see more. They’ve watched this movie multiple times. We have lots of fan letters about people who really go back and they bring their friends and bring their family.”

“And so, we feel like there’s more story to tell,” he continued. “We are going to treat it the same way we treat the original Aladdin movie and not going to do a shot by shot remake of anything that’s been done before. We’re really looking at what’s been done before in the past and the home video, and there’s just more story to tell with the underlying materials. So without giving away too much, we are certainly exploring where we can go with this franchise.”

At this point, nothing is set in stone and it’s important to note that Disney does not have an Aladdin sequel in production just yet.

What are your thoughts on an Aladdin sequel? Is it needed? Would you watch a sequel of the movie?
