As we’ve all been home to help stop the spread of COVID-19, it’s safe to say that many of us have already immersed ourselves in the world of Extraction in which Chris Hemsworth stars as mercenary Tyler Rake.

Now, for those of you who loved the movie, prepare yourself for more as a sequel is officially on the way!

Since it’s release, Extraction has gained immense attention from all over the globe.

According to Deadline, the movie’s writer Joe Russo – of the Russo Brothers who brought Avengers: Endgame to life; has closed a deal to write a sequel of the high action movie.

AGBO, the company run by both Joe and Anthony Russo, are currently in the process of piecing together the sequel and are hopeful that Sam Hargrave will return to direct the movie, and that Chris will reprise his role as Tyler Rake.

However, nothing is set in stone until the script for the sequel is ready.

“The deal is closed for me to write Extraction 2, and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be,” Joe said. “We’re not commiting yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience.”

“There was always a simple drive to the story, a balletic execution of action where you take a damaged character who made an egregious mistake in the past and has a shot at redemption which might be fatal,” Joe continued. “What was the key is that we needed a muscular action director like Sam to be the main creative force in the execution of the action.”

As of now, there’s no word on whether Chris will return to reprise his role.

Whatever it is, we’ll take an Extraction sequel happily!
