On the third Saturday of every September since 2015, fans of comic books and superheroes celebrate this day in honour of Batman. This year, it falls on 18 September.

To celebrate, fans dress up in their favourite characters such as Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, or even Batman himself while attending conventions. It’s a super fun day and you ought to celebrate it as well this year!

However, as you’re all responsible rakyat trying to keep the country safe during this pandemic, you can celebrate by binge-watching all these Battastic shows on Astro!

Here are ALL the shows and movies airing in honour of the Black Knight in conjunction with Batman Day:

Movies

You can watch four amazing Batman movies about Batman’s origins and how he fought against terrible villains with the help of Alfred and many other friends.

Catch all of these on Warner TV every Friday from 8.10pm onwards.

#1 Batman, 1989

Batman 1989 starring Michael Keaton

This classic version directed by Tim Burton, and starring Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as Joker is the one every 80s and 90s kids grew up watching. It’s set in a version of Gotham City that is still very much sceptical of Batman.

On the other hand, Joker sees the attention Batman is receiving and wants to reign terror over the metropolitan instead.

#2 Batman Returns, 1992

Batman Returns with Danny Devito as Penguin and Michelle Pfeifer as Catwoman

Directed by Tim Burton as well, this sequel to the Batman film series stars Michael Keaton again as the superhero while Danny Devito plays Penguin and Christopher Walken is Max Shreck. Entrepreneur Max teams up with Penguin to take down Gotham City.

This is also the movie where Batman and Catwoman, played by Michele Pfeiffer, develop their romance.

#3 Batman Forever, 1995

Batman Forever starring Vil Kilmer

The third instalment has Val Kilmer replacing Michael Keaton as Batman. This time, Batman has to go up against Two-Face and The Riddler.

With their own agendas, the two villains team up to plot revenge against Batman. In this movie, Bruce Wayne also adopts orphaned Dick Grayson, who discovered that he’s actually Batman and then became Robin.

#4 Batman & Robin, 1997

Batman & Robin starring George Clooney

In the fourth and final instalment, Tim Burton had nearly zero involvement in the movie as Joel Schumacher directed while Peter MacGregor-Scott became the sole producer. George Clooney also took over as Batman.

As for the plot, just when Batman is geeting used to working with Robin, he has to learn to work with Batgirl as well. Together, they have to take down the insane Mr. Freeze and seductive Poison Ivy.

TV Series

While movies are great, they’re mostly centred around the Dark Knight himself. So, what about all the side characters and villains? These TV series will delve deeper into the side stories!

#5 Gotham, S5 Episode 1-8

Gotham Series season 5

This series talks about what Gotham City was like before Batman’s arrival. It focuses on Detective James Gordon as he solves various different crimes and mysteries around the metropolitan.

#6 Pennyworth, S2 Episode 1-8

Alfred Pennyworth season 2

Perhaps you’re a huge fan of Alfred Pennyworth, the Wayne family’s beloved butler. Throughout the comics, movies and other TV shows, he’s shown a great intelligence and skilful fighting capabilities.

In this series, you’ll get to see his life in the special forces in London and how he wound up working for the Wayne family.

Cartoons

If you prefer more lighthearted Batman content then spend your weekends on Cartoon Network (Channel 635) from 7.10pm til late! These cartoons are more fun, filled with jokes, but still packed full of the Bat himself.

#7 Batman: The Brave and The Bold

Batman always says he prefers to work alone but in this cartoon series, he works with many other superheroes to fight all sorts of villains. However, these supervillains aren’t the usual ones we see all the time.

#8 Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold

This cross-over is something no one saw coming but turns out to be such an interesting combination. The storyline continues after The Brave and The Bold ended and for some odd reason, these two unlikely parties teamed up to fight against a supervillain.

#9 Lego DC Batman: Family Matters

In this movie, Lego versions of Batman, Batgirl, Robin and other DC superheroes receive a mysterious invitiation. It turns out to be from Red Hood, an evil villain who’s out to destroy the Bat-family and Gotham City!

#10 LEGO DC: Attack of the Legion of Doom

LEGO Justice League, attack of the legion of doom

You often see superheroes teaming up such as the Justice League and Teen Titans, but what happens if the supervillains decide to cooperate instead? Ceck out this Lego movie to see how everything unfolds.

BONUS: #11 Teen Titans GO

So, Teen Titans Go isn’t exactly centred around Batman but it does focus more on Robin and his friends, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy. They fight all types of crime and save the day on the daily… but what happens when they're done fighting crime? GO check it out!
