Well, that’s James Gunn and Disney’s relationship.

Marvel Studios apparently wants Gunn reinstated as the director of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, and they’re currently trying to persuade Disney to make it happen.
Disney fired Gunn last month after some of Gunn’s old distasteful tweets resurfaced.

According to Deadline, Marvel is seeking a compromise in bringing Gunn back onboard for the third instalment of Guardians Of The Galaxy. Gunn had recently finished the script and planned to start shooting later this year for a 2020 release date before he was fired.
The news comes after the entire main cast of Guardians Of The Galaxy released an open letter in support of Gunn. With that kind of pressure, we’re not surprised that Marvel might be having some backchannel conversations with Disney about rehiring Gunn. After all, Gunn’s last two Guardians movies made over US$1.6 billion (RM6.5 billion) worldwide. He’d definitely be a big loss for the studio.
Interestingly, Variety recently reported that based on anonymous sources, Disney has absolutely no plan to rehire Gunn.
