Finding Nemo has just had its 17th anniversary.

That’s right. 17th.

Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo first debuted in 2003 and since then, it’s been capturing the hearts of many generations.

The movie received much praise from critics and was nominated for four Oscars, taking home the award for Best Animated Feature – the first Pixar movie to ever do so.

Finding Nemo went on to be the best-selling DVD of all-time in the United States.

As we all know, the movie of course is about Marlin’s journey to find his son Nemo, who gets abducted from the Great Barrier Reef and is on his way to becoming a dentist’s niece’s (dead) birthday present. On his way, Marlin – a meek clownfish, enlists the help of Dory who suffers from short-term memory loss but is the only one that can help him find his son.

From there, the new travel buddies go on to meet a variety of animals including vegetarian sharks and 150-year-old sea turtles, as they make their way to P. Sherman, 42, Wallaby Way, Sydney.

The movie then gave us a sequel Finding Dory after 13 years and while the sequel was great, the first movie is definitely more dear to our hearts.

Now, as the beloved movie turns 17, fans are shocked and in disbelief – as are we.

We don’t know about you but it sure feels like Finding Nemo just came out last year!

Happy 17th anniversary, Nemo, Marlin and Dory!

Did you love Finding Nemo? Do you remember the first time you watched it? Have you rewatched it recently? Let us know!
