Different news about the role of Prince Eric in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid made its way around the internet today.

Some media outlets reported that Harry had officially said yes to becoming the prince while others said that the One Directioner had declined the role.

After thorough investigation, we’re sad to say that Harry has indeed passed on the role of Prince Eric.

Unfortunately for fans, we will not be seeing Harry kiss a girl in the upcoming live remake in which Halle Bailey is confirmed to be playing Ariel.

According to sources who spoke to TheWrap, the singer-actor is “a fan of the project but respectfully declined” a place in the movie.

The confusion as to whether Harry had accepted the role first begun when both AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas inaccurately tweeted that the actor had officially been cast in the role.

This however was not true and both theater chains have since deleted the tweets.

Fans all over the Twitterverse are clearly upset to know that their favourite Directioner had declined the role.

We’re sad that Harry said no but we’re sure he would’ve made an amazing Prince Eric. Who do you think should play the prince in The Little Mermaid instead?
