Here's one for your memories: Idris Elba is in the final negotiations to be a part of  the live-action movie of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats!

For those of you who don't know much about the musical, Cats follows a tribe of cats known as Jellicles, who must decide which one of them will ascend to the "Heaviside Layer" and come back as a new cat each year.

According to Deadline, Idris might be playing the famed feline, Macavity the Mystery Cat. Macavity is known for his ability to disappear from any crime scene and for breaking "every human law". Deadline reported, "Macavity is the only real villain in the musical who kidnaps Old Deuteronomy, the Jellicle leader, and attempts to abduct Demeter."

Speaking previously to People in 2017, he spoke about his love for musicals: "I honestly love musicals. I auditioned for Beauty and the Beast. I really did, for Gaston. I called and said, 'Listen, I want in!' So somewhere they have a tape of me singing."

Cats holds the record as the fourth-longest-running show in Broadway history and also as the longest-running Broadway show ever from 1997 to 2006!

Production of the movie adaptation is set to begin later this year in the UK and slated for a release in December 2019.
