Finally rising from the ashes is 20th Century Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix that's set to be released on 14 February 2019!

Since being announced, the movie has had some mystery surrounding it, but fans finally got to see the official trailer when it debuted during The Late Late Show with James Corden!

Sophie Turner's Jean Grey is, of course, the focus of the movie, which shows her eventual merging with the cosmic power that is the Phoenix, which will change the X-Men forever.

Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) lead a team made up of our favourite mutants from X-Men: Apocalypse, which include Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Quicksilver (Evan Peters).

In the movie, things have changed since the Apocalypse. The X-Men have become pseudo-celebrities and are looked at as heroes… an element that will play a role in Jean’s story

Director, Simon Kinberg, was involved in the screenplay of X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time, he gets to sit in the director's seat and has been waiting for another shot at the iconic story.

"[The film] was so clear in my head, emotionally and visually, that it would have killed me to hand this to somebody else to direct," Simon said.

With directing this movie, Simon got to pretty much erase The Last Stand and the death of Jean Grey thanks to X-Men: Days of Future Past. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, "I co-wrote X-Men 3, the 'Dark Phoenix' story, which is probably the most sacred of the X-Men storylines in the comics," he said.

"Fanboys and girls did not love the movie. When I wrote X-Men: Days of Future Past years later—it was a time travel story—I thought, 'Well, here's an opportunity to rewrite this mistake—bring Jean Grey back to life.' I got to go back and essentially erase a $200 million movie."

Well, here's hoping that the second time's the charm for Simon!
