There's been many different Harry Potter theories that have popped up ever since the Wizarding World came to be. J.K. Rowling noticed the struggle fans were having with one particular theory and she stepped out to help.
The theory? Hermione Granger's name. Fans have been struggling with the brightest witch of her age's name ever since it was first mentioned. How was Hermione's name actually pronounced?
In the Goblet of Fire, Hermione spends some time teaching her Yule ball date, Viktor Krum, how to pronounce her name. Viktor repeatedly calls her "Hermy-own," to which she replies, "Her-my-oh-nee" slowly and clearly. Cue awkward humour.

But was it just awkward humour? A Twitter user theorised that the moment actually served a bigger purpose; teaching a reader how to properly say Hermione's name.
J.K. Rowling confirmed the suspicion and closed this theory, once and for all.
Other Twitter users were quick to chime in with their reactions to the clever handiwork and memories of their own mispronunciations.
Wonder what other fan theory J.K. Rowling will vanish next?
