Previously, it was reported that Disney would be coming up with a brand new Pirates movie that takes place in the same world as Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow but unfortunately, will not be starring the beloved actor.
The new, female-driven Pirates of the Carribean story will not be a reboot of the franchise but rather a “wholly original” tale with new characters.
Like the original movies, the upcoming POTC will take inspiration from the iconic attraction at Disneyland and Disney World.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Birds of Prey and Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson will be penning the script for this movie.
THR also reports that this isn’t the only Pirates movie that’s currently in development over at Disney. The studio is also said to be working on a reboot of the franchise with original Pirates writer Ted Elliot and Chernobyl creater Craig Mazin on board.
Margot’s POTC movie will not interfere with this reboot.

Unfortunately, the plot of the upcoming movie has not been revealed but many fans believed that Margot will most likely take on the role of Redd, one of the more popular characters from the attraction.
“There could be a possibility that the film will look to be centered on Redd, the popular female pirate featured in the Disney Parks attraction and is a meet-and-greet character,” Disinsider writes.
