Recent reports from Variety has the internet split with news that the Black Panther actor has pitched an idea for a new take on Superman to Warner Brothers.
The studio has apparently been looking to “find a way to make Superman relevant to modern audiences” and has since been polling lots of high-profile talent for a reboot.
According to the report, the idea was pitched earlier this year in a meeting between the actor and the studio.

But if you’re looking forward to seeing Michael on the screen as the Man of Steel, don’t expect to see it anytime soon as Variety notes that the actor “isn’t ready to commit to taking on the project since filming doesn’t seem likely to happen for several years and he has a full dance card of projects.”
Sources do note as well that it’s highly unlikely for a new Superman movie to be released anytime before 2023 given that there is no script or director yet for the reboot - but there are talks of having J.J. Abrams on board for the remake.

Over on the Twitterverse, fans are split on whether between looking forward to having Michael play Superman and totally opposed to the idea.
We can see Michael in the Man of Steel’s cape but we’re still debating on whether he’ll make a good fit.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Michael should play Superman? Let us know!
