NOOO! Groot Is Dead And None Of Us Are Ready For This

For all of you that fell in love with Groot when Guardians of the Galaxy first introduced the character, this news might come as a shocker for you.

Spoiler alert if you didn't watch the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie–Groot died protecting the rest of the guardians. But for a long time, all of us thought that Baby Groot was actually his resurrected form.

But director James Gunn broke the news (and millions of hearts) on Twitter recently when he tweeted, “First Groot is dead. Baby Groot is his son.”

Sure, Baby Groot is still super cute and hilarious, but this news certainly ripped a part of our hearts out.
