The second trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One was released yesterday, and this time around, we’re treated to even more Easter eggs!
Just in case you don’t know what Ready Player One is about, it tells the story of one Wade Owen Watts, who decides to join a contest in the OASIS, an expansive VR universe. His mission? To discover an Easter egg hidden by the game’s deceased creator, that will then grant him the right to an immense fortune. In his way is corporate giant that is attempting to discover the Easter egg before Watts.
Now, back to the Easter eggs in the trailer…
The Race Cars
In one scene, we see cars lining up in a starting gird featuring vehicles from the classic Batman series, Speed Racer, Street Fighter, The A-Team, and Mad Max!
Street Fighters’ Characters
Chun Li and Blanka from Street Fighters appears in this scene from the trailer. Sagat is seen in another scene from the trailer.
Mass Effect Armor
The famous Mass Effect game series’ N7Armor also appears among the crowd with a character that looks like a match to Commander Shepard.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider
A cameo of Lara Croft, the famous Tomb Raider, is also seen here.
Mortal Kombat
A statue of Raiden from the Mortal Kombat game series and the logo of Mortal Kombat is shown in the “Easter egg” scene.
King Kong
King Kong needs no introduction, and it is seen standing atop the Empire State Building, exactly like the movies.
BattleToads
Battletoads is a game released in 1991, and the humanoid amphibians are seen in this battle scene.
Joust
Joust is another game released in the ‘90s featuring a knight on a large, flying ostrich.
Joker And Harley Quinn
The famous crime prince and Harley Quinn make their appearances too. Quinn is seen wearing the same outfit from the Batman: Arkham Asylum game series.
Overwatch Tracer
Tracer is one of the fan’s favourite characters from the game Overwatch, and she can be easily spotted in the trailer.
Mass Effect “FemShep”
The female Commander Shepard from Mass Effect also joins the battle, and can be seen appearing behind Tracer.
Bloodrayne
Ryane from the BloodRayne game series is a half-vampire, and fans believe that the character in red hair in this screenshot is her.
Deadshot
Joker and Harley Quinn aren’t the only ones from DC with a cameo. The famous Deadshot from Suicide Squad also makes his appearance!
Gundam
Hmmm… we wonder how the other characters will be able fight against this robotic warrior?
Chucky
The creepy murderous doll is seen in another part of the trailer, but we can’t see how he’s able to fight against the rest of the characters…
The Iron Giant
The Iron Giant is an alien robot that was voiced by Vin Diesel in the 1999 movie of the same name.
